Are you a Savvy Internet Marketer?

By Jeff Walters on June 3, 2010

Well, I have to admit that I’ve got a lot to learn about Internet marketing. And, isn’t that the most important thing to realize in life.

Too many people go through life thinking that they know everything that’s important. Many people avoid learning new skills. They do the same things over and over and wonder why they aren’t successful.

As a former teacher I’ve had many experiences you probably have not had. For one, I’ve been involved in negotiating a new contract–which was a fun experience.

One interesting position taken by our administrators was to question whether seasoned teachers had, say, ten years of experience, or one year of experience ten times. Just because a person has done something many times does not necessarily mean that have a lot of experience. They may have simply experienced the same thing many times without learning new skills and techniques.

And, isn’t this a critical factor that separates average people from those who are extremely successful? Successful people make mistakes. Often more mistakes than the average person. but, successful people learn from their mistakes.

Successful people have mentors or coaches that can help guide them. Sometimes the guidance consists of new ways of thinking about a problem. Sometimes they’ll need to learn a brand new skill, and then improve on that skill over time.

You can achieve breakthroughs to overcome obstacles from a variety of mentors, coaches, or teachers.

While it’s true that everyone learns by experience, successful people know the benefits of learning from the experiences of others.

As an Internet marketer I’m constantly doing things that don’t produce positive results. But, is that a mark of failure?

Definitely not. I am associated with many people who are much more successful than I. And, I am constantly learning new skills and techniques from them.

I listen and learn from a number of multi-millionaires who are able to do many things better and faster than I can. And, that’s why I’m learning, growing, and improving my techniques.

As an Internet marketer you must have both great skills and the proper mental attitude. Both of these area are critical to your success.

Your mental attitude is critical to your success. You must think of yourself as an entrepreneur rather than an employee. You need to believe that you can reach your goals. And, only then can you work to successfully achieve your goals.

After you develop the proper mental attitude, you can be consistent and persistent in your effort to build and improve your knowledge and skills. Thomas Edison wrote that “Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.” Genius takes effort.

Thomas Edison is also quoted as saying, “Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits.” Don’t waste time. Hustle. Keep working. Keep failing until you succeed.

As I put into practice the new information I’m gaining from my own experiences and the guidance of others I’m becoming more skilled and more effective at Internet marketing.

I think you can do the same thing. And, you can, if you hustle.
